Born in 1952, Gérard Sioen began to photograph in 1974 during a long trip to the United – States, bet in search of the phographer Ernst Haas – His Master – He would never meet, but keep in mind the idéal of autrian photographer, devoted entirely to the worship of nature.

Tirelessly traversing the paths and trails, watching the sky, watching the clouds, Gérard Sioen watch out for idéal lightswill illuminate the architecture and landscape forming the reason for his photographic quest.

First dreamed, imagined, the photo will be taken later when the lighting is perfectly in place. Refusing filters and other accessories, he wants to show no effect and naturally communicate emotion at the beauty of the landscape.

Photographer, reporter, collector of pictures, he collects, accumulates and classifies his plates, accurately noting the names of area, as does an entomologist with the best pieces for show better, remembering.

It is transparent, diaphanous, diffuse,or sparkling, Gérard Sioen loves all the lights, because they know iris, splashing and sparkling shapes which, without them, would have no life, in the shadows.

He paids a tribute to the beauties of the world and at all the nature, with the secret hope to share his admiration, feeling so close to compliance.

Né en 1952, Gérard Sioen commence à photographier en 1974 au cours d'un long voyage aux Etats-Unis. Parti à la recherche du photographe Ernst Haas- son Maître – il ne le rencontrera jamais mais gardera en mémoire l'idéal du photographe autrichien, voué tout entier au culte de la nature.

Parcourant inlassablement les chemins et les sentiers, scrutant le ciel, observant les nuages, Gérard Sioen guette la lumière idéale qui illuminera l'architecture et le paysage formant le motif de sa quête photographique.

Tout d'abord rêvée, imaginée, la photo sera prise plus tard quand l'éclairage sera idéalement en place. Refusant les filtres et autres accessoires, il souhaite montrer sans effet et communiquer naturellement l'émotion ressentie devant la beauté du paysage.

Photographe, reporter, rapporteur d'images, il collectionne, accumule et classe ses clichés, notant avec précision le nom des sites, tout comme le fait un entomologiste avec ses plus belles pièces, pour mieux les montrer, se souvenir.

Qu'elle soit transparente, diaphane, diffuse ou étincelante, Gérard Sioen aime avant tout la lumière, les lumières, parce qu'elles savent iriser, éclabousser, et faire scintiller des formes qui, sans elles, resteraient sans vie, dans l'ombre

Il rend un hommage visuel aux beautés du monde qu'il a parcouru et à la nature tout entière, avec le secret espoir de faire partager son admiration, ce sentiment si proche du respect.
